Jackson is the first Black woman in history to sit on the Supreme Court. She was formally welcomed to the court with an investiture ceremony in September. Ketanji Brown Jackson, the US Supreme Court’s newest justice, is both the first Black woman and the first former federal public defender to hold the position.
